The Nico Atlas Quad 14” friction hinge is a heavy-duty side-hung hinge for timber casement windows where restricted opening, egress, easy cleaning and reliable load carrying are required from one hinge.

Offering four functions in one hinge, the Atlas Quad provides restriction, heavy-duty performance, egress capability and easy clean access. This makes it a practical option for timber window manufacturers looking for a strong, multi-function hinge that supports safety, usability and long-term operation.

The restrictor limits the initial window opening in line with BS 8213-1:2004 to 12 degrees. Once the child resistant catch is released, the hinge allows the window to move into the egress position, with easy clean access available at the push of a button allowing opening to 80 degrees. The hinge automatically resets when the window is closed.

Suitable for vents up to 700mm wide and sash weights up to 45kg, the 14” Atlas Quad is part of the heavy-duty Nico Atlas hinge family. Its asymmetric hinge geometry supports a smooth opening and closing action, while additional fixing holes provide increased stability during installation and use.

Manufactured from stainless steel, the Atlas Quad offers excellent corrosion resistance and load-bearing performance. It features a 4.8mm counterbore rivet assembly, stainless steel rivets, stainless steel nose caps, a stainless steel reinforcing plate and a glass reinforced nylon slide. A brass adjustment screw allows friction to be regulated.

Compliance with BS 8213 provides a minimum 95mm gap for cleaning. Fabricators should check all restricted openings to ensure they comply with Building Regulations, as vent sizes and profile variations can affect the 100mm opening requirement.
