The Nico Atlas friction stay is a heavy-duty egress and easy clean hinge designed for side-hung timber windows where strength, safe opening and reliable long-term operation are required.
This 14” 14mm stack variant is suitable for sash weights up to 45kg and sash widths up to 900mm, making it a practical option for heavier timber window sashes and smaller windows where achieving the required clear opening dimensions is important.
The Atlas hinge range uses a unique geometry to provide a wider clear opening for egress requirements, with a 90 degree opening angle. The easy clean function allows safe access to the outside of the window for cleaning and automatically resets when the window is closed.
Manufactured from stainless steel, the Atlas friction stay provides excellent corrosion resistance and load-bearing performance. The hinge features a stainless steel riveted nose cap for strength, stainless steel rivets to support load carrying, and a glass reinforced nylon friction slide with an adjustable brass resistance screw to help regulate operation.
Slotted fixing holes in the base channel and sash bar allow adjustment during installation, with final fixing holes to secure the hinge once positioned. This helps support accurate fitting and reliable operation in timber window applications.
Always refer to the safe reaches for cleaning guidance in Approved Document K when specifying egress windows.
